The Film That Shaped My World
I would not necessarily say this film rocked my world, but it has influenced me in a way. The name of it is Facing the Giants, a small independent film in 2006. It was created by a church in Georgia. It's about a high school football coach who coaches a Christian school football team who always loses. The guy can never catch a break it would seem: he drives a beat down car, his team can never win a game, and his marriage is strong but not good at times. About to give up after several parents want him fired for not winning a game, a local minister who prays over the lockers in the school every day, talks to the coach about not losing faith and to keep pushing forward. After listening to this, he instills that philosophy to his team, who turns around and eventually wins the state title. Now this film taught me that despite the odds in life, never give up. God always has my back no matter what, and I shoukl continue pushing forward. I'm really glad this movie came along.
Reader's Choice
My magazine choice is WWE Magazine. Over the past 16 years that I have been a wrestling fan, WWE Magazine has been a choice for me to keep up with WWE, and to catch up on some stuff when I miss something. Over the past nearly two decades, WWE Magazine had split into 2 issues: one for the Raw brand which comes on Monday nights, and Smackdown, which comes on Friday nights. But over the last year or so, WWE went back to one issue a month, since it might merge the two shows eventually (just a rumor for right now). As far as the medis is concerned, WWE Magazine has tried to reach the ages of 10 and younger (which I will not go into right now) by creating a WWE Kids Magazine. WWE has recently went PG as far as its ratings are concerned, and I think that the separate magazine for them is a wonderful thing, instead of trying to water the one down which the 18 and adult crowd reads. WWE as a company has expanded into the movie industry recently with the creation of a film company, WWE Films Inc. So WWE Magazine is ever changing, and with a celebrity wing to the Hall of Fame, I think the magazine will continue to expand even further into the communications field.

Independent Blog #2: My Love of Sports
Since it's March Madness time, I decided to blog about sports. I'm a huge sports fan! I love football, basketball, tennis, running, and I used to love wrestling. I love college football and college basketball more now than I do the pro side of them. I fell in love with tennis in 2009 as I watched the women's U.S. Open semifinals. I fell in love with running recently, and I hope to start training for 5ks soon! Wrestling was my first true love when it comes to sports. I fell in love with it in 1996 at the age of 11and a half. Wrestling was all I was interested in- me and a cousin used to pretend to wrestling, and I had a stuffed monkey named Nelson who didn't survive after I wrestled the stuffing out of it! I wanted to become a pro wrestler when I was 12- it was my first dream. But now seeing how the business is, I'm glad I gave up the decision to wrestle. Running is a challenge sport: it takes dedication, focus, and a positive attitude! It takes a long time to get really good. My good friend Casey Parks can run a mile in under 6 minutes- that's dedication. I hope to run at a 8 minute pace my first race, and at 27 years old that's a good feat. Tennis to me is a game of psychology: who can out psych his opponent. I love the back and forth action- you never know what's going to happen! College basketball is a good passion of mine: I love Florida State, Florida, North Carolina among others. I hope you have enjoyed this blog!
